TWTS Service Learning Project Testimonial
I participated in the CEO Global USA program in Spring of 2017. Due to my mother’s health I had to make up some sessions in the Fall 2017 semester. However, I was able to participate in the creation and development of our Community Service Project with my group from the Spring semester. Our project was essentially placing local high school groups of students with Senior Citizen Centers to assist the seniors with basic needs that they were unable to do on their own. These things ranged from yard clean-up, garage clean-out, interior home cleaning, grocery shopping, and even taking a walk or walking a pet. We wanted to keep it simple and streamlined with the hope that future high school students could continue serving the community in this capacity for many years to come.
The project came full-circle in October of 2017. I was assisting a colleague with relocating to a new home as she is partially disabled and finds it difficult to manage daily tasks. I am currently working on pairing her with the very same local high school group that was set up as part of our community service project to assist with daily/weekly/monthly tasks that she is unable to accomplish on her own.
Community Service is vital in so many areas and the CEO Global Program gave us a great opportunity to fulfill that need.
