The 2018 TWTS Leadership Retreat is a unique three day retreat that is rich in content and career development training all conducted in a pleasant and enjoyable live/learn environment.

This exciting part of the TWTS program will be a dynamic weekend of personal enrichment and leadership training.  A full immersion experience in personal and leadership development that will leave you confident and prepared to step into your future. This vital portion of the TWTS program will involve dynamic guest speakers, pro mentors all in an experiential learning environment. This rich learning environment will include training sessions, small group discussions, recreational activities and mentoring.

Leadership Retreat Presentations

Session 1 - Personality and Success
Leaders need to know themselves and how to relate well to others.
Presented by Mrs. Elaine Kung
Cornell University Electrical and Materials Science Engineering; Princeton M.S. Electrical Engineering; 30+ years AT&T, R&D at Bell Labs; now leads Network on Demand Integrated Operations Experience.  She has been elected to AT&T high-potential programs and received AT&T-sponsored executive education training at Columbia, Cornell and Wharton. Elaine recently received the WOC STEM Career Achievement Industry Award.

Session 2 - Career Development
Develop the qualities employers are looking for in their employees.

Session 3 - CQ: Cultural Quotient and Managing Cross Cultural Conflict
Develop the skills to understand, succeed and lead in an cross cultural context. 
Presented by Mr. Craig Holt
Business Development Executive within the Pacific Northwest for Sierra Systems. Prior to joining Sierra Systems, Craig was the National Practice Director for Business Transformation Services with Unisys Corporation. He started with Unisys in 2002 and led the National team that brought Business Transformation Services to the State and Local Government Sector. Craig has provided Consulting Services to a wide variety of clients include the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Washington D.C. - Department of Public Works, State of New York - Department of Taxation and Finance, City of San Jose (CA), City of Seattle (WA), City and County of San Francisco (CA), State of Alaska House Finance Committee, Colorado- Department of Transportation, and Auditor General of British Columbia. 

Session 4 - Effective Listening
Practice effective listening and develop your ability to relate and empathize.
Presented by Mr. Craig Holt

Session 5 - AQ: Adversity Quotient  and Overcoming Challenges

Discover how to turn adversity into success and develop personal resilience.  
Presented by Mr. Ming Chiang
Mr. Ming Chiang is the former Vice President of Texas Instruments. Mr. Chiang started his professional career in Texas Instruments, Dallas, as testing engineer to support worldwide manufacturing sites. After building his bandwidth and experience through various job positions such as product engineer, design engineer, product engineering section manager, and product engineering branch manager, he started the mixed-signal design group to address the emerging mixed-signal market in 1985. Through 15 years of tenacious team efforts, mixed-signal design group has become the leader in the industry. Mr. Chiang was responsible for all the advanced process technology development, mixed-signal product development and computing infrastructure with over 1000 mixed- signal design employees in 15 different global design sites. Texas Instruments is currently one of the leading suppliers of broadband communication products in semiconductor industry.

The 2017 TWTS Leadership Retreat was a phenomenal success!  Retreat participants hailed from more than 13 different countries.  Students from the University of Arkansas, the University of Texas-Dallas and other individuals gathered to interact with, and receive from, corporate professionals, highly qualified teaching professors, and their peers from around the world.
